Another year comes to the end and it’s time to review past accomplishments and set goals for the new year. Here’s a list of what happened to YowTRIP in 2008!

January

YowTRIP becomes a word on Google (They no longer ask: “Did you mean view trip?”)

YowTRIP mentioned on the Travel section of the Sacramento Bee and El Pais (Spain). Also appeared on TV in Spain. (Muchas gracias, Espana!)

February

YowTRIP demo’ed for 300+ at the SF NewTech in San Francisco and for 300+ at the Boulder NewTech in Colorado.

March

YowTRIP launches travel widgets for blogs/websites.

April

YowTRIP moves to the startup town of Boulder, Colorado.

YowTRIP is mentioned at TechCrunch and reviewed by Mashable.

May

YowTRIP partners with AdventureCentral to provide adventure packages to its members.

June

YowTRIP was featured in a couple of articles by Guardian.UK.

September

YowTRIP moves again. We’re now based in Montreal, Canada.

Finishing up the development for launch early in 2009. Very exciting moment! We’re looking forward to a great 2009. We wish you all the best next year!

We’ve been working hard for the past three months on our new site! But, no, we’re not quite ready yet. We’re now only a few weeks away from launching it!

We’re very excited about it and we had to start with our blog. In here, we’re going to post the usual stuff: new features, travel news, trips, etc.

So, what’s changing @ YowTRIP?

First of all, we moved! We’re now based in the beautiful city of Montreal and very much involved in the Montreal tech scene!

Our goal is the same: to connect world travelers, so they can meet and travel together. There are a lot of new functionalities as you will see in a few weeks, but we’ll give you a quick preview of some of them.

Our focus is slightly different. We want to help you (yes, you!), travel enthusiasts, who often times don’t travel because your friends aren’t available. You will be able to meet other interesting people with similar interests as you and self-organize into groups to travel together. 

We believe that travel in groups in so much more fun and economical and there has to be a better way to connect like-minded people who want to travel together!

 So, start thinking about your next destination or adventure for 2009 and come back here in a few weeks!

YowTRIP will use a Twitter-like messaging system that will let you ask specific questions, plan and get to know other travelers before you go. You’ll be able to follow other travelers and watch your favorite places, so when new groups are created you can see if it’s one you’d like to join!
